Asthma
Asthma is a debilitating disease where sometimes you can feel as if you are suffocating. An emergency drug used to treat this respiratory problem is Albuterol. It is a beta-agonist where it dilates the bronchioles thus reducing or eliminating respiratory wheezing.
If there is minimal air movement in lungs due to the inflamation of bronchioles then Epinephrine 1:1000 (0.3mg dose) is given intramuscular in an emergency setting by paramedics or emergency room staff.
Asthma can be exacerbated by many agents such as smoke, pet hair and dander, perfumes and strong odors, and severe allergic reactions to food, drugs, and animal and plant toxins.
